Your consultation isn’t with a salesperson or call centre. You’ll speak directly with Alistair, Director, Owner and Builder of Smart Home Additions, to discuss your home, what you’d like to achieve and what’s realistically possible within your budget.
During your one-on-one consultation, Alistair will review your property, discuss your goals, preferred inclusions and any potential site considerations, and talk you through the options for adding a second storey to your home.
Following your consultation, you’ll receive a tailored written build-cost estimate within 3–5 business days, giving you a clearer understanding of your likely construction costs before committing to plans and approvals.
What Alistair Will Cover During Your Consultation
Onsite Consultation – $350
Onsite consultations are also available for $350. To book an onsite consultation, please call our office directly.

Phone Consultation – $250
Our standard Phone Consultation fee is $250.
Phone consultations provide the same project discussion as an onsite consultation, with the added flexibility of speaking with Alistair from wherever suits you. If both homeowners are in different locations, we can also arrange a conference call so everyone can be part of the discussion.

How to Prepare for Your Phone Consultation
To get the most out of your phone appointment and to help our consultant better understand your home, please send 4 photos of your property at least 48 hours before your consultation of:
- Front of your home
- Back of your home
- Both sides of the home (if accessible)
Our consultation fee is credited to the next stage when you proceed with your quote within its validity period.

What Alistair Will Cover During Your Consultation
- Review your current home and its suitability for a second storey addition
- Discuss site considerations including access, levels, bushfire or flood zones and existing services
- Discuss your goals, budget and preferred inclusions
- Provide practical recommendations based on what you’re hoping to achieve
- Identify any obvious factors that may affect the scope or cost of your addition
- Prepare a tailored written build-cost estimate, emailed to you within 3–5 business days
What We Cannot Discuss During Your Consult
- Ground floor extensions
- Ground floor renovation work
- Current proposed plans – if you have designed plans with a draftsperson then we may not be the builder for you, head on over the our parent company 32 Degrees Building with your enquiry
